Hi,
I have a bit of a problem with the fuse blowing every now and then for the wiper on my Uno 1100. I replace the 20amp fuse and all is well, then when I go to use the wiper a few weeks later, (it's not raining too much at the moment!), I find the fuse has blown. Again I replace it and all is okay for awhile until the next time. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this intermitent problem? It would be better if the fuse just blew immediatley I replaced it, then I could trace the damn fault! Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

First off, does the fuse blow immediately when you use wipers, or does it stay ok for a while? I'm sure you've checked this already but just need to clarify.

If it works initially, I would suspect that the wiper unit may be seizing up and therefore putting an excessive load on the motor, and/ or you have a bad earth. Check the earth cable/ leads to see if they are securely in place and clean. Also, check the operation of the motor - does it seem sluggish at all? Noisy in operation? If so then maybe it's time to replace it to try and rectify the fault.

Let us know how you get on :)

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. After the fuse is replaced the wiper works fine. It's not noisy or slugish either. As I'm not using the wiper very often at the moment so I can't say exactly when, or how long after replacing the fuse that it takes to blow again. I'm wondering it it's not a problem with the intermitent wiper module, maybe something electronic in it is causing the fuse to blow because it's breaking down occasionally. I'll have to trace it through this weekend and I'll let you know if I find the problem.
Thanks.
