General Wiper blades

Thanks fifi, very much appreciated. They have a set of A300s's on eBay. Are they easy to fit? Did u get the same as these?

I'm not the most avid forum user these days, but every now & then I have a look to see what's happening. Tickles me how some take things very seriously. I'm guilty of the odd facetious comment;) or two, but it makes me wonder how some make this forum... much, much more than a hobby or an interest in cars.

i did have the same problem with the second set yes. Sadly I have another set to go, plus the original wipers aren't weren't even fully worn when I took them off so they will go back on when these ones are finished. The rear wiper however is knackered and I ordered a couple of Bosch rear wipers tonight as this thread reminded me

The wipers on the 500 are extremely easy to fit :) Anyone could do it, but no doubt there will still be some dimwits who will have to go to a dealer or Halfords. If you can type a post on this forum you are overqualified to fit the wipers on a 500 ;)

I did get the same ones. They couldn't be simpler to fit, they literally just snap on (you might need to remove the adaptor on the blade first). The judder & smearing stopped straight away. The factory fitted blades are awful.

Lol. yes very easy to change, even with a cup of chai in hand.

Maxi, With Rainx, which i had been using on the Merc for many many years, i found if you keep the application going every month there is no judder at all, but once you fall behind then the wipers judder until the entire application is self removed (over time). I love this stuff however its only good for long distance driving.

just to qualify "long distance", what i mean is 'non city start/stop driving'. With a good speed you don't have to use your wipers in the rain as rain just beads off, however when in start/stop driving and wipers on, there is smudging and within a week or so juddering.

anyyyyway, it works wonders on side, rear windows & mirrors. Be-careful it will takes nail polish off, so don't ask mrs to do it.

btw: anything else better than Rainx out there ?

i found that on the 500 it juddered no matter what. It's always been fine on other cars so I suspect it's an issue with the blades

I do have to say that I thought that there was something strange when taking my Abarth for the first time in the rain (after having 500 for 2 years), than It ad hit me - the wipers were silent! How hard would it be to fit something better in 500? After all it is not a cheap car by most standards...

The wipers in my first 500 never juddered at all in the 3 years I had it. I've had the new 500 2 weeks, and used the wipers for the 1st time today, and boy did they judder, even when the rain was very heavy.

I shall take away the various tips given on this thread, and when it stops raining, will try them out. Changing the blades will be a last resort. ;)

My wipers juddered to start with. I just cleaned window really well and sprayed the water on and off and they don't do it now unless it's very very light rain, only few spots

Regarding flashing mileage, I just turn engine off and on and it clears it :). Given up with it and the ticking fan....seem to be just quirks on my car!

On the business of buying bits off Ford re replacement wipers their spare KA wheel kit is way cheaper than buying the Fiat 500 equivalent. I was quoted €400 odd (they eventually agree to knock a €100 off) but the same kit was about half that price from the local Ford garage. Luckily I have a proper spare in the Lounge but I leave it in the workshop if I staying within city limits.

A big thanks for your research, I too have juddery wiper blades and have put up with it but enough is enough! I have ordered some new Bosch ones and I will let you all know how they do.

Well I bought the Bosch wipers about a month ago and have had no improvement whatsoever, they still judder unless I have them pon the fastest setting which looks a bit stupid when it's only light rain!

You guys should check out Greece. I havent used my wipers for 3 months so I completel forgot about any shuddering!
