General Wiper Blades

General Wiper Blades

£15.40 from master parts in mossend....not sure if it just a we local shop or if they have shops country wide but very cheap for the wipers

Mine seem to fluctuate...July 07 - either totally silent or farty...screen cleaned about once a month but it doesn't seem to have much affect if it's clean or not. Not too fussed to be honest, they clear the screen so I can still see...however, £20 for a pair is a bloomin good price so when I'm in need I'll be placing an order!

Just got this dilemma. Plastic snapped on the originals and replaced them with Halfords ones a while back- very thin compared to OEM, and noisy with judder. Got to a point with incessant rain last week that I could takes no more and went on eBay to get a set off a seller I'd used in the past for wipers.

Ordered them and they came, looked like OEM ones but the connector was wrong- yes it was a Fiat connector and fitted, but whereas the OEM wipers (and Halfords) had the connector as part of the actual blade these had a black plastic block 1/2 inch thick and the connector on top of that.

That was a mistake- driving on the M77 they got major screen judder, looked like the connector didn't allow the wipers to give pressure and there was some twisting pressure between the block and connector. In the works car park we turned on the wipers and my god, they almost ripped themselves off the screen, a colleague in the car was worried too.

In the end went to the dealer who ordered me a set in for £24- best wipers out there- Bosch are £26 on the Bay but the cheaper stuff is on there just didn't work for me.

Anyone ever find a solution for wiper farts please? I have got brand new front and rear Fiat units (Bosch on the rear) and the flatulence is dreadful, to the extent now that unless it is absolutely bucketing it down I have to use the wipers manually only when the screen is wringing wet!

I clean both the screen and wipers with glass cleaner and yes it does make a noticeable difference, but only for a couple of days. I never cleaned the wipers on my two Fords and never bothered to replace them either.

Has anyone come up with any solution other than daily cleansing please - I am sure that the wipers must be too close to the screen or the rubbers too stiff or something - there must be a long term solution out there somewhere.:bang:

The only solution I found was the Halfrauds own blades as mentioned before. But they were so flimsy, they puckered lifting the centre of the blade and the arm off the glass, then flopped back down smacking metal off the windscreen. They were on for a week before they were binned.

I bought Valeo X-TRM blades about 6 month ago. I'm very happy with them, no farting and they clean very well too. The OEM ones were just awful.

Any of you guys use Rain-X on your windows?
I usually use it in the winter, great in the rain and slows down the formation of frost.
I fitted Bosch wipers a month ago and in the rain the past day or two the combination of them on my window has been dreamy.

my wiper blades are sticking. Quite strange really, in loads of rain they are juddering, like there's too much friction on the screen. No noise though.

A squirt of windscreen wash and they're fine for a bit so this must make the screen slippy enough for the wipers to work properly.

Ideas anyone? Glass polish?

I get exactly the same problem, but am not prepared to clean the glass every day with glass polish. With both of my Fords I never replaced the wipers or polished glass and I never had any such issue. Brand new OEM wipers that you need to polish the windscreen with daily to work are a faulty design IMHO and Fiat need to sort it out.

Has anyone else tried these please - drove home in torrential rain today yet despite this lubrication I was deafened by farting and had to keep using the wipers manually. Got my finger on the trigger ready to order but the description says "produced on the same line as OEM part" - thats not what I'm interested in when the OEM part is so bad!:bang:
