Windscreen Wipers packed in

Hi can anyone help, my windscreen wipers and washers are totally dead. I checked the fuse and it appears to be OK, are there any relays for these and if so where can I find them. If not can anyone advise me what to look for.

Hmmm, what age is your car chap? I'm guessing it's pre-1999 and a MK1 as this sounds like the dreaded stalks problem.

Wiper Problem

My blower motors and cigarrette lighter don't work either hence it could be something else.

Blower motor and cigar lighter work off the same 20A fuse so I suspect the fuse has blown or has a bad connection

You'd be surprised what electrics dodgy stalks can knock out.
I'd go with the stalks problem.

It was the stalk

Thanks everyone for responding, it was the stalk that is at fault. I have everything working except the headlights at the moment but once I open up the unit I should be able to sort it. For anyone else with the same problem, if the blower, heated rear window, headlights and windcreen wipers don't worko, I'd first look at the fuses then go directly to the left hand stalk. One tell tale sign is if the block connector to the unit show's sign's of burning or melting, mine did.

Oh and is it a MK1? Apparently this problem was solved in the MK2s by the fitting of an additional relay, or so I heard on another forum. Would be worth knowing if it is as then all MK1 owners could find out what this relay is, install and never have the problem again.

For the headloghts problem...just install aftermarket relays for the lights?
In my country they sell kit with two 30A relays including wires and instructions for 20€ (14£). And this is in finland where 2000 Brava 1.6 costs 7300€ x.x
