Technical Windscreen wipers HELP!!!

Hi all

I've had my 98' cinq for 9 months now n just recently the drivers side wiper has been going over the edge of the windscreen. The skin of the car the wiper goes through has given way and will no longer keep the wiper in place. I tried putting an aluminium plate behind it but hasn't really helped. I guess I'm gonna have to get it welded but has anyone else had this problem and how did you get it sorted?

I had a similar problem, except mine wasn't going too far but not far enough. I found out that the bit where the wiper arm connects to the wiper linkages was ceased. Which was causing the whole wiper to twist and wear away the metal. I couldn't shift it so got the linkage from a scrappy (only couple of £) and replaced it.

I caught it just in time before the metal wore right through but i put a big stiff rubber washer on it to strengthen it. If u can find two big metal washers or even two metal plates and drill a whole through them, then use the bolts that are already there aswell to sort of clamp the wiper in place. Its not the best fix but it would do if u want to save money welding!

Cheers will try. One answer it seems is a single wiper conversion but again that sounds like too much £!!! The problem I may have with the 2 large washers is how thick it is gonna be as I had problems screwing the nut back on the wiper arm with just the aluminium plate!! Will have another look tomorrow. A spare cento centre spindle is all you need for a single wiper conversion.
