Recently I replaced my windsreen wiper motor. Now it parks on the left. It always used to park on the right. The wiper arm is bent in a way that makes it look like it should park on the right. Do some park on the left and others on the right.

The motors from MK2 Unos park on the left.

Bending the arm wouldnt make the motor go the other way as the entire motor turns the other way.

I think what rawill means is that the wiper arm is bent so that the blade rests against the bottom of the windscreen on the right hand side, but that doesn't make it sit properly when parked on the left hand side.

The solution is to re-bend the arm by using a vice.

It's nice having a clear view of the road with the wiper out of the way. :)

I think Mk2 motors are also faster and quieter than the earlier design, so definitely preferable.

Thank you. You have confirmed what I thought. I checked a few photos and it appeared all the Mk1s seemed to be parked on the right and the Mk2s on the left. I will look for a Mk2 wiper arm. And yes the bend was about it being tucked down flat. Sometimes I don't make it clear to to others, but "I know what I mean"!!

Great
Glad you're sorted
OK have a question for ANYONE that can help
If I have a Mk2 where I want the wiper to park vertically
like a touring car racer
is their an easy way to make the Mk2 wiper motor park in that different position?
Not afriad to pull the wirper motor apart
as I'm guessing there is nodule or magnet
or something that instigates the wiper motor's park position
and I will need to reposition whatever that is....

i also want to do this, so double thanks for anyone with a solution :D

oh! you cheeky buggers :D:D:D

you mean an 18 year old kid with a really low, brightly coloured hatchback looking chav?!

surely not!

:D

Your car has a race pedigree and is definitely not Chav ;) Well, unless you do the vertical wiper mod to it that is

Take the tin cover off the motor and observe how the self-parking contacts work on the main gear - now modify it... you'll figure it out ;)

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
