Hello. Can't get my windscreen wipers to work. I knocked them on accidentally whilst the windscreen was covered with snow, they didn't move due to the amount of snow. When I cleared the snow they went up and down. When I tried them again they wouldn't work. I've tried spraying them with de-icer all around the pivot point and checked the fuse which seems to be intact and switched it with another one but they still wont work. They don't even try to move. The back windscreen wiper works.

Any ideas?

checked the motor hasnt burned out struggling to move them through the snow:confused:

What car do you have?

Dave.

how do i check the motor hasn't burnt out? Sorry total car ingnoramus

The car is a fiat scietento 2002.

not sure it was just my first thought - could check the continuity with a multimeter i suppose or take it off an check theres power goin to it through the wires then check the motor again

had the same prob, open bonnet and remove the sound proofing on the right hand side ( 2 screws), this will expose the wiper motor.

Once you have exposed the motor for the charlatan that it is!

Make sure the linkage is still attached, it is possible the motor is turning, just not moving the wipers.

If no movement from the motor, with the power on, carefully try and spin the motor using a screwdriver.

DO NOT PUT FINGERS IN THERE (He might not like it)

If nothing, put in a temp earth,

If still nothing, check supplies with a meter or test lamp (one switched one permanent)

If supplies and earth are intact, replace motor. (3 bolts)

Cheers
