General Windscreen Wiper Banging Noise

Hi,

2000 JTD, I'm getting a banging noise once per wipe, from somewhere under the grey plastic trim in front of the windscreen, driver side. Should I just remove said trim and have a look inside? Is it just a matter of a couple of screws? Suspect a linkage or split pin is bent or something, unless anyone knows different....

One of those ones where you just have to strip it & investigate i'm afraid.
