Hi,

Today I tried to use the rear wash on the tailgate, but the washer pump didn't work. I then tried the front windscreen washer and this has also stopped working. I have checked the fuse (which is meant to be the rear wiper motor as well as the washer) but it seems fine. Both the rear and front wiper motors work fine.

Does anybody have any ideas what to look for.

Also the oil level gauge when you turn on the ignition shows that it has no oil, but there is plenty in the engine.

Thanks

Andy

Have you checked ALL the other fuses, to see if something else has blown?

Do you hear the noise from the pumps? The same thing happened to my Mondeo, and it was all gunged up with stuff.

Hi,

No noise at all and they worked a few seconds before and then nothing. I had a look at most of the fuses but there are loads.

I looked on the CD you sent me and from the description it sounds like the plug may have come off.

Problem found, fuse 14 under the bonnet was blown after all. I replaced it and the front washer and oil level gauge now work, but as soon as you use the rear washer the fuse blows again.

Anyway I spoke to the dealer and they will have a look Monday while I wait.

Tried to replace with the same 10A rating, but there is definitely something wrong with the rear washer pump. I have run out of spare 10A fuses now, so replaced it with a 5A which works fine for the front washer and oil level gauge.

I posted on the Eurovan forum and other people have had their washer pumps replaced under warranty for the same reason.

I was tempted to put in a 20A to give the pump some extra current in case it was just stuck, but decided that with the multiplexed wiring, I would probably blow something up. Anyway as long as I don't use rear wash the front still works and you need them in this weather.

Poggy you have just as much luck with your cars as me. Mine is going back into the garage next week another auto box as this one makes a load bang when you engage reverse total fiat now have spent on warranty gear boxes todate is just under ten grand i am going to make sure i get rid off my ulysse auto before the warranty expires lol

New washer pump fitted today and it is working, which is even more amazing.

Hopefully it will last a little longer than the last one.

Not Sure on the wipers although I did have the rear washer stop working for a week or so. I then noticed water in the rear compartment and found that the washer pipe had disconnected itself inside the drivers side rear pillar.
Causing the pumped water to spray all over the elctrics in there. Not nice.

I've noticed that the oli level indication is only valid if the cars on the flat and level.
Also over filling even slightly causes it to go into panic mode where the display flashes.

Nothing wrong with that, surely?! You wouldn't normally do a dipstick check on a slope, so same goes for the sensors :)

Btw, seems we got a whole new lease of life in the Ulysse section :D

My old Renault Espace would get the hump for ages if you started it on a slope...the service message would come up and not go away.

The problem with the oil sensor on a slope is the worry when it shows no oil.
Better to have a level sensor that inhibits the oil sensor display if the readings not valid (ie on aslope or the engine too hot)
That way no worries.

I'm sure there is a examiner update for Ulysse oil lever sensor problems, maybe someone else here can confirm this but I seem to remember carrying out such a task on one about a year ago, least I think it was a ulysse

I live with the problem rather than have the dealer "examine" the car again. Lost count of the times they have fixed one thing to break many others.
Makes you afraid to ask sometimes.
If it needs something else doing I'll remember to ask them to look at that as well.
