Technical Window removal

I have an elderly Ulysse (1997 2.0 EL) which I have owned for many years. This morning my drivers side electric window broke and the window dropped open. I have removed the door card and can access the window mechanism. My problem is how do I remove the clip securing the glass to the regulator mechanism. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Success I have removed the regulator. I am surprised that the plastic guide has lasted 12 years as it looks designed to fail with all the weight of the window on a small plastic lug. I have glued it with copious amounts of araldite and will give it 24 hours to fully cure. I might also add a bit of reinforcement. If anyone has already done this I would be grateful for any advice before I put it all together again.

Despite my reinforcement, the stresses were just too great, so a replacement assembly has been ordered on ebay.

Replacement fitted and everything now ok. Interestingly, the switch now works in reverse, but there is no way of fitting the connector back to front.

If it is of any help to anyone, the most difficult part of replacing the window regulator mechanism is removal of the spring clip which holds the regulator to the window - it is on the wrong side of the glass for access.

:idea: The secret of success is to position the window approximately half way up and wedge it there with some wood (assuming your regulator has broken). Then reach round to the clip and you will find you can rotate it. Thread a piece of wire through the clip so that it hangs below the window, then with a pair of pliers pull down on the wire. If you need to lever against something, use a block of wood braced against the door frame - DO NOT lever against the glass. This should release the clip.

Refitting is a little awkward, but greatly assisted if you apply a little grease or vaseline to the spring clip first. This will aslo make life easier in the future if you need to remove it again.

I hope this proves useful to someone out there.

I think you can pop out the switch and turn it around!

Yes, you are correct, it can be turned around, but the window picture will then be upside down. I may consider that as an option, but I think I can live with it as it is.
