Technical dashboard and cover removal - howto?

To replace the gearshift-cable (Ulysse 1,9 16V, built dec 1999) I need to unscrew parts of the dashboard and the lower cover of the A/C.
I´m not experienced in this kind of work and don´t know what screws I should remove and where they are located.
Are there different gears optional and different cables possible?

Any hint?
