General Will this make my Brava LOUD?

Won't get ANY louder at all, now if you remove the stupid restrictive tubeing directing the air into the box, it will get louder. and if u cut a hole or two into the side of the box, it will get MUCH louder. and you will get a nice roar from up front.

please dont spend that much on a panel filter, thats a complete rip off.

if you want a "no noise" reduction of intake restrictions get a cotton green panel filter, they're cheaper and exactly the same.

if you want to get more noise, panel filters aren't the way to go. a cheap induction kit is the way forward.

good choice, they're almost always just as good quality as k&n. and it'll give a nice roar but only when you put your foot down, the rest of the time its practically the same noice as normal. which is great.

its easy to fit. when fitting it you'll need to remove the airbox. to do that take the lid and filter element off then remove the panel in the plastic wheel arch liner so you can lower the airbox through the hole. then fit the new filter and to keep it clean and dry i suggest you block off the grill in the wheel arch liner with some plastic sheet or similar. i didnt do this at first and quickly found my new filter was coated in mud and soaked through. not good.

if whenn fitting the filter you find it wont fit easily onto the end of the pipe that is left where the airbox used to be, you can extend the pipie using the rubber hose that connects the air intake scoop to the airbox. i got one from another car bravo to do the job. it worked out perfectly, and now the filter is touching the air intake so it gets a good supply of cool air.

thought a pic would help to explain. this is my old filter (that i had to replace due to mud and damp damage, but the new one is blue so i dont mind at all) but it shows the pipe arrangement i'm talking about. the pipe at the very front is exactly the same as the pipe connected to the filter. its a perfect fit and look slike its meant to be there (y) you cant really tell in the pic but the filter is sat on a piece of plastic which is why you cant see the grill in the wheel arch liner.

Thanks mate, much appreciated!!!!! I have got my brother to come down on saturday (should hope it is here by then!!) to fit it! :) I am looking forward to it, when im driving at about 40-50 mph with sport on, and i accelerate it already sounds really nice, with this on it is going to sound even better.

Do the Bravo and Bravo have same engines? Looks the same as mine :)

bravo and brava have the same everything except back end body parts. its the same car, they just used 2 names to be different.

would a filter increase fuel consumption?how much added horsepower would be added?would it really make a difference to acceleration?

No actual real measurable increase in fuel, however you will tend to change your driving style, where you open up the throttle more as this is where the induction noise comes in. this this style of driving uses lots more fuel.

If you have a good cold air feed to the filter and the filter is not drawing in hot underbonnet air then about 3bhp is possible just from the filter and air cold feed. It depends how good or restrictive the cars induction was originally. Have heard of some cars gainind 10bhp by the removal of such resonator box systems and then adding afreeflow filter.
A poor fitted filter will loose bhp under a hot bonnet.

No real difference to acceleration, as the fiat stock closed induction system intake is full of resinator boxes, bypassing them will itself give gains by being less restrictive for the air to flow. This mod alone might free up some extra horses. The freeflow filter will give much better throttle response and will help the car rev more freely/easily by not restricting induction air flow.

nice post bridges (y) its refreshing to see someone write something realistic about filters for a change. i usually see posts claiming a filter will easily give you 10bhp+, especially on the cinq/punto sections.

i've never noticed a change of mpg or performance after using many filters on many cars over the years. you usually change your driving style to make the filter roar, which does waste petrol, but thats not the filter's fault. many people think the car pulls better and accelerates faster, but thats just because the noise makes you think it does.

in reality the stock filters on almost all modern cars have very little restriction (to save petrol) so you wont see much of a gain, if any. its all about the noise.

(y) cheers jug.

I get peed off when prople say "I have fitted a filter and a back box to my 1.2 car, now thats 15bhp for the back box and 15bhp for the filter

People seem to think that manufacturers are idiots and that they have poorly built there cars. There are some compromises made by manufacturers to increase mpg, definately to reduce noise and to keep torque and drivability at specified driving speeds. Also to keep the engines running well within a safety margin for reliability.

However there will not be huge gains by altering these and you could loose low down torque by altering induction and exhaust design on some cars.

rant over :)

dude brava 1.6 has the same engine as the bravo the only difference is yours comes with auto tranny. marea 1.6 shares your engine and tranny too.

the brava 1.8, marea 1.8 and the bravo1.8gt uses the same engine and tranny too.

It is all true what jug said. I strongly agree with him! there is nothing else to say

Well i stuck it on the 106 XS instead of Brava, no point spoiling a nice car ;)

Plus, im selling it soon, doubt people would want a car with a stupid noise making clunk of crap stuck in it.
