Technical Whiring noise

ive bin told my head gasket has gone on my fiat punto 60s and i had to drive it the other day and the engine made this wierd whirring noise when the rev's got higher, is this to do with the head gasket going or is it a seperate problem?

its not the head gasket. could be the water pump. if the car is running hot or cold this could also be caused by the water pump also not the head gasket some puntos did give headgasket problems even at low milage

It all depends on how hot the engine got! The heads warp easily on these and can make the belt tighter and the tensioner squeels. Sounds like b#llocks but its true, the same as if you tensioned the belt to tight when it gets hot and expands tensioners squeel. Could also be water pump depends on noise. Not the end of the world to do.
