Technical Whinning noise comes from engine bay when the ignition is turned on

Hi All

I have noticed that when i turn the ignition on in my stilo i hear a whinning noise come from the front of the car.
At first i used to hear it when the engine was idling but now i can hear it as soon as the ignition is turned on.

Anyone have any ideas of what is can be?

belt maybe? do think that would be more of a screeching sound though, where abouts is the sound located

Possibly a headlamp adjuster motor?

Throttle body? You shouldn't have been able to hear that with the engine running though

You don't say which engine you have, but are you certain it's from the front? It could be the fuel pump pressurising...

the engine is a 1.6
It's not the fuel pump because the sound is deffinatly coming from the engine bay and i believe that the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.

The Headlight motor sounds like it may be the cause as the drives side headlight cluster is jammed.

When i adjust the lights that light does not move.

Is it easy to change the whole headlight unit?

You need to take the bumper off to change the headlamp.

The adjuster motors are available seperately. There's a thread on here somewhere that lists the part numbers for the motor from Ford or VW. They use the same motor but the price is cheaper than from Fiat.
