lol, never thought Id see the words "proper power" and "ford" in the same sentence.

rs2000 mexico with over 400 brake i dont think its a boring ford probably one of the best in its class in the country.

Have a slight update manifold is back off due to surface needs machining properly so that the mating surfaces are flat so it can get a perfect seal and gearbox is off revealing a very poorly standard clutch.

I guess you know the guy as you work with him. Guess people just pressumed he was a spammer looking for trouble hence the harsh welcome lol

The ford and the fiat, both look nice tbh and i happily have either of them (y)

If the box is off, fit a punto 16V flywheel, its larger (y) and get a cheap sport clutch for it like I did.....should be much better at handling the power, unless you already had your fw worked.

Kristian

/edit - completely forgot I said about the clutch and fw a few months ago lol, was reading back and came across my post again....didn't mean to say it twice lol

EBC fast road clutches are good for about 100bhp and 90lbft which I guess is about standard. It coaps with my 1.2 8v and 15" rims but it isn't up for much more, you just have to get on the throttle a little to early and it'll slip and take ages to grip :(.

Surely the larger clutch friction surface will make a big difference!? If they can't handle a fast sport clutch on the larger fw, then the final option is to stick a paddle on it, but that'll be a bit harsh i'd imagine ;)

Mine runs the larger one (although i have less power than you ;) ) and foxyem's turbo also has the larger flywheel, at least I think that's what Aaron told me when I met him.

Maybe things have changed but the clutch I have was boxed as something along the lines of "Mk1 Punto Sports clutch for 1.1 (55), 1.2 8v (60 & 75) & 1.2 16v (85)"

We run a 200mm Stilo flywheel and OE Fiat/AP clutch on Emma's Cinq, this came with the 8200k 1368cc 16v engine and gearbox when we bought it. This is 20mm bigger than the normal 180mm one as we found that even an uprated 180mm clutch was no good for turbo power, the torque on her car, some 125lb ft@3200rpm just overwhelmed it, so on a hunch we fitted it and job done.

The AP clutch is better made than other clutch assemblies I have seen on the Fire, but then as it has to haul a near 1200kg Stilo about it has to be good. We also run a 200mm flywheel and clutch on the Sei which is a new flywheel from Fiat & I think a OE Valeo clutch, not quite in same league as AP but still much better than the 180mm ones.

This is what I came across for Fiat clutches from www.motorsportworld.co.uk some Panda 750's 160mm, other 750's + 1.0L Panda's with FIRE engine Cinq/Sei 899cc 170mm clutch, Panda 1.1, Cinq, Sei, Punto 55/60/75 180mm, Uno Turbo 190mm, Stilo 1.2/1.4 16V 200mm, Punto GT 215mm, there are of course others but no point in listing them all.

I got some further info from www.shop4parts.co.uk Stilo 1.2 16V clutch kit part no. S4P1014 Listed Price: £118.44 Stilo 1.4 16V S4P2440 Listed Price: £122.98, Punto 1.2 16V S4P201 Listed Price: £120.84 punto 1.2 8V S4P217 Listed Price: £86.50. I know there are no sizes there but as there is a small differance in price between the Punto and Stil clutches they are different parts, maybe slightly uprated in heavier Stilo, that's not fact just an assumption.

Aaron.

The 1.2 16V's sit in between then at 190mm. Do you have the part number for the 1.4 16v available?

Kristian

I was editing my post when you asked, may be some info there for you now. Though as said we got the original flywheel and clutch with the 1368cc engine/box and bought the replacement once we stole it for the turbo from Fluffy over on www.cento-rebels.com.

small update came home early sunday morning to find someone had broken into garage where cinq was and stole nothing.. found garage door ontop of cinq got a smashed windscreen and wing damage so things have been slowed down once again while i repair/paint it once again
