General Which winter tyres are people going for

General Which winter tyres are people going for

From personal experience springtime in London starts around March 15 but this year seems not to be the case!!

Personally I consider the first day of spring to be the first day I can walk comfortably outside in shirtsleeves. That works out to be about 16-17C in sunshine. Most years, that day happens during the third week of March.

It's unusual in March to be comfortable outside without a coat, but there is usually at least one day in March when it is.

What is going on with the weather!? I am coming to the uk on 29 march and i hope it will be better. Does anyone have an extended forecast outlook? Maxi you are good at that?

Sorry Ahmett to be a 'party pooper', but this is what it is like down south for the foreseeable future:bang:

Heh. I'll be on my summer tyres no matter what :D

My Mum used to say "don't cast a clout 'till May's gone out". Never did know what it meant : / lol.

My Mum used to say "don't cast a clout 'till May's gone out".

From the Old English "Ne'er cast a clout 'till may be out", "clout" refers to clothing and "may" is the flower of the Hawthorn (aka May bush). At that time, it was also common practice to be sewn into your winter underwear for the season .

So the literal translation is probably "Don't unstitch your winter undergarments until the Hawthorn is in flower".

A more modern interpretation might be "Leave your winter tyres on until the leaves are on the trees" :)

Snow forecast for tomorrow...but I did fit the new summer tyres to the rims today and polished the rims in preparation...oh and a big box with Bilstein written on it in my dining room.

No, but I've noticed the damper performance has degraded considerable since my car was new (9200 miles ago). Par for the course for standard car suspension, the dampers are very cheaply made, and not very well specced anyway.
Yes I see what you mean. Would the B14's last longer do you think?

There are a few threads about the B14 kit, but I'll try to do a thread that makes sense..the original suspension is on 32K so due for a change anyway.

Cheers

Really looking forward to your experience.
Want to get B14 kit but have to wait a while.

My 1989 R5 managed 220,000 miles on its original dampers! Somehow I can't see the 500 matching that.
