The conti winter contacts. Wife has just put it straight into a kerb and totalled one of the wheels. I want to make sure it's sorted properly

Ouch!

Front or rear?

A sideways swipe hard enough to total the wheel could do other damage, so it's worth getting it checked out properly. A 4-wheel tracking check would be a good place to start.

I work in the motor trade.Just dropped it off for all 4 wheels to be rechecked and refitted. Balancing and 4 wheel alignment done. The steel wheel is still holding pressure and tbh i cant tell any pulling but better to be safe.Asked them if the spare is full size to swap the tyre onto that and put the bent one on the spare. Will have a check on ebay and pick up another steel as i cant stand the thought of a bent one on the car.Bloody livid though because i went to the same junction (t) she lost it on and couldnt get my car to lose traction. Very confused how it happened. Temp is about 6dg here and very wet so the kind of conditions these tyres should be better than normal ones.Already purchased a new wheel trim off ebay.At this rate i would have been better getting a full wheel and tyre package.Checked the handbooks and pressure recommended is 2.0bar for 1.2 pop

Definitely. Certainly a case where keywords would have made a big difference. Like I said, when I was looking on my phone I didn't know what sort of wheels they were, if I'd have known what they were I'd probably have put a big in myself.....

The set cost me £131 all in.

:D

BARGAIN!! I reckon you owe Rui a pint of beer :D

I've not got winters for my 500, would like them but will more than likely be out of it as soon as the Panda 4x4 is released. The tyres are different sizes so wouldn't be able to bring them over.

We have winters for the Caravelle which I've not put on, I think it needs to go a touch colder yet, not a lot. The next few weeks most probs.
Just had an email from Ebay with one of my favourite searches
255/45/18 which fit the van
National tyres, Michelin winters £798 for two!

Does anyone actually pay this sort of money??
I bought some Nokians last year for £412 for four and they are good tyres.

Mine are on now, was 5 degrees this morning, and 6 tonight: Noticed yesterday that the car seemed a lot more surefooted on the winters on the greasy roads with the air temp at 6 than with the summer tyres - squish the tread on each with your finger/thumb and it's immediately apparent which is designed for low temperatures!

Went to Bedford Autodrome on the weekend and both me and MEP hadn't fitted out tyres :p As long as there's no snow I'm not too bothered, but I really should get around to it sometime :)

Don't let the cat out of the bag, this thread could fall to bits :p

I think mine are going on this Saturday, although temps around here have risen ever so slightly over the last few days, but still in single figures.
