Okay Guys,

A more general question here, lets say hypothetically speaking you have around £100 to spend on a pair of 17cm midranges for your front car doors, they need to have a shallow mounting depth of around 60mm (6cm). Which ones would you buy for your money?

Thanks

Dave

Id get some Focals

But MB Quart and Fusion are good too.

So are Polk Audio.

Theres so many to choose from though, its just personal choice, i doubt very much you'd hear a big difference between any of the £100 speakers.

The best thing to do would be to listen to them yourself.

Yeah but its finding somewhere that sells a wide range of good quality speakers for a sensible price (I know I can get the speakers cheaper online but if I go to a shop and hear them, then go home and expect to find the price cheaper and I can't, its disapointing). I have been down my local halfords and they don't stock focals (heard lotsa good things about focals, but can I afford semi-decent focals on the money i am looking to spend?)

Those Kenwood Dual Mags that you put the link too are very good speakers, well at least the old style Dual Mags were.

And those are the new Dual Mags so they should be even better.

Id go for the Polks.

Do u really want coaxials, u said u want another set of tweeters up front, would the treble not be too harsh?

Would a set of components not be better?

Okay,

My price ranges has changed. I looked at the focal website and I notice that those speakers will be too deep for my car doors. I then found out they have a slim version but they are another £50 ouch. Is there much difference between those and these kenwoods?

I thought I was gonna have enough money to spend £200, but now its closer to £150. If these kenwoods are not very good can u recommend some good ones for £150 or slightly less? (£150 is my maximum)

Thanks

Dave

Yeah get them Kenwoods! Glad your getting components too the sound will be better imo.

The dual mags are good speakers, you wont notice a difference between those and the Focals really, maybe someone who listens to speakers day-in day-out would but the majority of us wouldnt.

How are u going to power the speakers? By the headunit or a dedicated amp?

Okay I dismantled my car audio this morning to find out the sizes of the speakers I could fit and was very shocked to find it so restricting!!! I am only able to fit 16.5cm speakers in the front door pods and they have to be 6cm mounting depth. Ouch eh?

Can't really find anything decent that matches this spec.

Can you recommend something??

Thanks

Dave
