hello,

I'm starting my own mpi seicento turbo project

My goal is to use an emerald K3 race ECU, so I can run the car at three performance levels: for MOT, street, circuit (or: very low boost, higher boost, very high boost)

I want to push the little car over 150 bhp, even up to around 200bhp, if possible.

now, I have the short ratio gearbox (its an seicento sporting) and allready with the 55bhp, the tyres spin when exiting a corner

the lsd group buy doesn't look very interesting to me, cause it's all very "hope it will fit" and the factory doesnt seem to be very strickt with their prices.

So, what I would like to do is fit an gearbox from another fiat car (with much higher ratios)
If possible: which is possible to fit an off the shelf lsd

Are there any of these?

Are there ways to make an lsd yourselve?

thanks in advance

This depends on how much money you're willing to put into the engine & how long you expect the engine to last, how you want to produce that power etc. I'm running on a latter 1242cc MPI engine & am slowly edging towards 200bhp.

An MPI box is nether that short or close imo, some people would say that's a good box for a turboed engine but find the 6 speed box easier to drive with on track & road. Though all the FIRE boxes, with the possible exception of the early Punto 6 speed, will handle loads of power if asked.

The quality of the tyres & the suspension you run will have a large impact on the traction, good news is that larger diameter give the car better mid corner to exit traction than the standard items but the handling is changed & the result isn't as fun to drive.

One of the biggest issues I've had with putting power down isn't so much the drive train as fundamental chassis properties, basically the 'cento chassis is really flexible & this impedes the suspensions ability to do its job properly causing all kinds of issues on the road & track.

Welcome to the world of tuning less popular cars, once you get into the more extreme stuff you're looking at one off builds, special orders etc. which means you can't get definite prices. If you want something off the shelf buy a Pug, Honda, Renault etc. or be expecting to pay through the nose for one off work. The LSD will fit, it's going to be a case of how much work it'll take depending on the exact 'box you have in your car. You should also keep in mind that even popular makes bolt on items sometimes don't fit straight on but further modification work is required.

If you swap boxes you've still got the problem of small batch run/one off mods & this isn't cheap or easy. If you want higher ratios find someone to cut a new final drive set for you, the turbo runs a straight cut 13/53 final drive & with the larger wheels I run this increases the ratios about 10%, I could have had a 16/55 final drive if I had asked. The advantage is with modifying the box is the parts are non-service items so after the initial expense you'll be able to use standard parts.

I'm wondering if you're thinking this can be done with a bunch of bolt on parts that'll make everything work. For a project like this you're not going to have that, you'll come up against all kinds of technical issues.

wow after a couple a years, I'm finally back

thanks for the support

projekt is finally starting:
bought (all ebay lol):
both IHI rhf4 ballbearing from legacy twinturbo (90£ and are 100% OK)
turbosmart 38mm ultragate wastegate
EMS 4860 motorsports ecu (full seq fuel and ignition, anti-lag, boostcontrol, it can really almost do anything)

leaving the gearbox as it is for the moment
