Just a quickie! I wanted to confirm the location of the gearbox filler plug on my 899cc Cinq. I assume it's the one arrowed in the photo, taken from the front of the engine with the front bumper removed? The Haynes manual doesn't have a photo, only mentioning that filling is 'extremely awkward!'

I need to top up the gearbox oil, as most of it decided to escape over the course of a week when I had the car up on axle stands. With the wheels in the air and the driveshafts therefore hanging down, it started dripping copiously from around the inner driveshaft gaiter on the passenger side where it enters the gearbox. The whole area around the gaiter was covered in black oily gunk but when I cleaned it up I was surprised to find that the gaiter itself was in good condition and obviously a replacement. All I can do is re-fill the box and see where the leak is.

That is the correct filler hole for topping up the gearbox oil. It shouldn't leak gearbox oil though if left on axle stands, you say that the inner boot on the nearside has been replaced so it could be something as simple as the clip not being tight enough, although some aftermarket Cento inner boots can be quite rubbish quality but it's probably the case of the clip not being tight enough.

Great, thanks Matt. Now I've cleaned up the area around that gaiter I'm hoping it will reveal where the oil is coming from once I've topped it up.
