Technical Which Fiat Punto Alternator

Hi i have a r reg fiat punto cabriolet and I am having problems with the alternator.

I have purchased an alternator from Fiat direct which is a 65amp and is putting out about 13

I have contacted other car part dealers who tell me there are two alternators for my car one is a 65amp without aircon and an 85amp without aircon and there is ia model which is 85amp with aircon.

My car does not have aircon and we cannott find a faulty wire leak between the battery and alternator.

Do i require the 85amp alternator or 65amp

My car is 12 16v r reg with electric hood and windows no aircon please can someone help thanks

Hi mate,

How have you tested the alternator? It wont put out 65amp all the time, just when its needed. The 65 amp should be fine for your car.
