Hi to everyone!!

My name is Simon, and i would really like to know,
what kind of engine you recommend me, for my NEW BRAVO???
I would like to know a little bit about fuel consumption, gears, acceleration,….
Please, guys and girls, help me….
In previous days I found a good offer ( 1.6 l, 105 PS with ACC )..????
What you think..???

1.6

I would get the 1.6. Mine is very nippy and the fuel consumption isnt bad at all, i get about 35mpg mixed. The 1.4 is one to avoid apparently, the 1.2 is both more economical and powerful. The 1.8 is actually a bit slower than the 1.6 i believe, but its probably a more relaxed engine (no need to rev it to go accelerate). If you have seen a 1.6 then i guess your not even considering the 2000cc HGT, which is pretty damn fast lookin at the spec, but not great on fuel.

1.4

Stay away from the 1.4, Bad engine, poor power, and stupid fuel figures,

The best value is the 1.6 with insurance, petrol, power etc.

1.6

Can't fault my 1.6. Only thing is, you have to drive using the full rev range to get to the power which kicks in quite high up, but I personally prefer that. Doesn't seem to affect fuel consumption either. 35mpg as mentioned previously is bang on average - best 38/worst 34 in 7000 miles. Sounds good for a 4 too, I reckon.

I hate 1.6's

For some reason I have never liked 1.6's Their too big to be little and too small to be powerful, if you get my drift.

I think my dislike for 1.6's was because I grew up with one of the worst cars ever to be driven by a "Barry" the XR3i, which was of course...a 1.6!

I like my 1.4 for what it is and I think the engine is a dream for pottering about in when you havent got anywhere to get to in a hurry. My 155 2.0 is harsh and needs to be thrashed to get the best out of it and on a long journey is one of the most tiresome cars I have ever had. On a short blast cross country it is cracking fun though.

Sooo, I would recommend the 1.2 or 1.8 as the insurance on the HGT is astronimical!

Re: I hate 1.6's

The 1.8 is the best. It if reasonably fast. Ive had about 9.5 seconds 0-60mph. That is only 1 second slower than a HGT and it is a hell of alot cheaper insurance wise. It goes like **** off a shovel from 3,000 revs and gives good fuel economy. Buy a 1.8 HLX!

1.6's rule!

The 1.6 has better fuel ecomony than the smaller engined bravo's, as the 1.2 and 1.4 have to struggle to move what is quite a large car. (Its not a little punto like the 1.2 was designed for). The 1.6 is also faster than the 1.8 according to parkers!!! To say its too big to be small and too small to be big seems silly to me, my insurance is only group 5, so hardly any different in insurance costs to the 1.2/1.4 and better fuel economy to boot. I cant afford a HGT, so the 1.6 seems the best engine to me.

what u talking about??

the 1.6 is never going to have better fuel economy than the 1.2!!

think logically, 0-60 - difference 1.6 about 11.
1.2 about 12.

fuel economy, 1.6 - about 36, 1.2 - about 42.

the power difference is not so much that u have to drive the 1.2 so much harder than the 1.6 as there is only about 20bhp bhp difference....not forgetting that the 1.2 is a lighter car than all other bravo's as fiat lightened it in order to make up for the 1.2 engine.

iv got a 1.2, but if i was going to get another, id probably go for the 1.8, as insurance wise, not too different, plus ur more than likley to get a better spec....

1.4sx

I am soo tired of peeps slaggin of me 1.4SX, its a nice car....fair enough the mileage per gallon is shite, but its a nice car

also when you thrash it ie over 3500rpm it performs well and is quite nippy.....is the 1.2 really faster? i am not too sure. I would like to race someone with a 1.2

anyways....

choice

Try the JTD, 50+mpg and performance to see off most of the smaller engines. Apart from anything else, you don,t have to thrash it, 3500rpm will see about 100mph on the clock in 5th and acceleration is roughly equal to the 1.6.
