im not really to sure what to spend? to be honest i jus want recomedations

Assuming that is 1200W Peak Music Power, I would be inclined to go for a Rockford P3001. This will deliver 1200w PMP or roughly 150w RMS into 4 ohms.

If the amp you have is delivery the amounts of power I mentioned, then a new amp won't solve your problem. If you use a bigger amp, you run the risk of damaging your driver. On the flip side, if the amp is underpowered then you run the risk of frying the speaker coil.

Apart from the amp, make sure (if it is home made) the box for the speaker is the correct size (use a sealed enclosure) and you have fat as 12v/earth cables plus it won't hurt to run a 'cap so the amp isn't starved of juice when music peaks kick in.

A cap is not necessary in this system, or in the majority of systems for that matter. As I have said before, max wattages, PMP, etc. mean nothing, and you can only estimate the WRMS of a given amp from its max wattage using that amps efficency - but this is not a reliable way of measuring WRMS.

Chan, you need an amp that'll deliver 350WRMS @ 4ohm IIRC from one of your previous threads.

A bit of headroom is nothing to worry about - its better to overpower a spaker than to overpower an amp IMO. Personally I would look at amps that will deliver something in the region of 400WRMS @ 4ohm.

As for wiring, depending on the fuse rating of the amp, I would have thought 8awg wiring would suffice, though there is no harm in going thicker :)

A suitable amp -
