Hi there all..
I have a 2002 Stilo 1.6 dynamic, it has done 50k so I no it is time for cam belt change..
I live in Loughton, Essex. Can any one please recommend a garage for me to go to.....Hopefully some where that I don't need to sell my soul to pay for it !! some where at a resonable price !!!(y)
Cheers
Matt

Welcome.

Try Avanti Auto's in Suffolk area, a little bit of a travel for you but Mario (neighbour of mine) and Paul, are top blokes and always do a top job. They know their Fiat's and Alfa's inside out. Definately worth trusting and leaving your car in safe hands.

I'd get friends recommendations along with Googling local Fiat/Alfa specialists. After you've Googled the relevant garages and found their own sites, maybe search that specific garage name and see what other people say on the forums about it. That way you'll make sure you get a balanced opinion (y)

Any Fiat workshop can do the job.
What means 50K?
The 1,6-16V engine needs a new cambelt+ bearings+ tensioner every 3 years or 60.000km ( = 37.500mls).
The Fiat factory has shortened the interval by halve, because lot's of belts on Fiat DOHC engines broke and destroyed engines....!

Thanks for all your replys so far:slayer:
Any one been to any garages near me ??

Have you spoken to the Chadwell Heath guys Richard or Vik
call 02085101233 and say your from FF and they should do you a discount
To add are you going to have the water pump changed at the same time?
It was recommended to me by the guys on here as a worth while job when
getting the cam belt changed.
If you search in garages section you should see some feed back for the Essex/Romford area

If the car has done less than ~100.000 mls, there's no need to change the waterpump while the cambelt is changed.
They usually don't fail before that, and even after 100.000mls, if there's no play or slight leaking on it, leave it, the belt tensioner is self adjusting, and can never put to much pressure on the belt to have the pump leaking.
Waste of money imo.
