Punto (Mk2/2b) Where to even start...

Hi all. Husband of a Fiat owner here ('53 Punto) who is more at home in his Renault (don't hound me out just yet!) but appreciates my wife's car and is jealous she has a turbo and i don't!

I am not overly handy with cars and only have a confidence level where i'm happy to give things ago with some expert advice so i thought i'd sign up here and see if anyone can help me out with a couple of issues i have.

Outwith the fustrations of keeping cars running nicely, my wife and i spend all our time running after our 3 kids, giving them all our spare cash and occasionally enjoying a weekend break or two when we get a chance.

Welcome to the forum, is a shame about the Renault thing but I suppose everyone has their faults.

Is it the 1.3 or the 1.9 you have ?

Its the 1.3 my wife has. Considering its age, its a remarkably solid little car. Had some issues with heavy smoke from exhaust which last for a while and which we ended up throwing a load of money at (which still didn't fix it) but it seems to have eased off by its self now. Turbo still kicks in nicely and its a great wee economical runaround for the missus.

Yeah, can't do much about the Renault thing i'm afraid

Only thing missing is a more up to date audio system (see issues thread...) and the wife would be happy!

On the smoke thing, try adding a little two stroke oil to the tank. The cheap stuff at about 1:200. I find it runs smoother and reduces smoke a lot.
