My 1.9 JTD ELX multipla's drive belt went yesterday. I have replaced it with a hugely expensive off the shelf belt and everything seems to work.

However, I have a loose wire with a flat terminal which I imagine was pulled out by the broken belt flapping around and I can't see where it came from or figure out what it does.

The wire comes from the top of the alternator and runs to the front of the engine bay and down towards the wash bottle where it splits in two. What is it for? At the moment I have cable tied it out of the way and checked lights, indicators and wash bottle...all working.

Can anyone tell me where it goes and what it does?

From memory, the only wires running from the bulkhead to the front drivers side are:
1/ for the horns
2/ for the spot lights (these I think are in a cable shroud)
3/ radiator sender unit
4/ fan control for electric fans on radiator
5/ washer bottle pump

I may have missed one but the description 'flat ended wire' has me puzzled.
Can you get a picture up, it may be helpful.

Cheers
George
