Hi,
After the initial excitement, test drives and almost putting pen to contract my wife has changed her mind on me buying a new 147.:(

I even emailed angel tune and was planning which sections of road I could unleash the torque!

My daily commute has extended by an additional 17miles each way suddenly, (change of office not plate tectonics) which means my F reg Panda 4x4 needs to be replaced with something a little more capable of covering the miles but still saving some cash. I used to really like my Punto JTD (W reg) which id probably never have sold had I relaised its potential.

I love the looks of the Stilo and in particular the 3 door. Ive always had a thing for Italian cars. So the 3dr JTD seems a perfect option.

Only I cant find any!
Not 2 year old ones anyway.
Im no longer in the market for a new car so something upto 7k would be about right.

However, there seem to be loads of 5 door models but no 3 door's.

Anyone got any search tips - its not urgent but im looking.
Ive tried autotrader etc but no joy.

Cheers
Jonathan

Jamjar..................................

wil do you a three door JTD Dynamic for £10600 and if you like black, silver they have those in stock ready for collection any other colour can be orded and be with you in 6-8 weeks, these are all brand new of course!

On the Fiat website there is a search facility for the whole dealer network, when I was looking I also set up a couple of vehicle alerts on Autotrader which did come up with a few leads, fish4cars and ebay may throw up a few possibilities as well .... also contact your local fiat dealer who may have access to stock that hasn't yet gone on the website.... problem with the dealers is that you will pay through the nose!
My car was repossessed and apart from a few minor things (such as only 1 key and no manuals) is in A1 condition.... you will pay a premium for a diesel but it should be possible to find an 02/52 model for less than £7k .... the other option is to try British Car Auctions and look for the ex-fiat lease sale ... many bargains to be had if you can beat the dealers!

Good luck .... It's great car and I'm over the moon with my 3 door ... drove to Birmingham this weekend and didn't see another 3dr Stilo on the M6 both ways .... exclusive or what!!!

Ebay:

There is also one identical to mine on there, but the mileage is a little high.

TBH, I looked around second hand, and on the JTD demand seems to outstrip supply, and the one or two nearly new examples I saw were actually more than my brand new one from Jamjar.

Can't undertand why then the trade value on them is so low

Ive found afew knocking about - but no where near to as many as I was expecting.

There was a light blue metalic one that had leather as well as abarth kit had 33k for £6.8k.

Very far from me but im begining to think it will be the best one I see.

May wait a couple of months as these are quite new cars, not really sure what to do.

Sounds worth a look...

Mmmmm... leather

... abarth kit!

Just be carefull it is the FULL abarth kit, and he isn't just overegging a set of skirts!

Keep looking and buy the first one you see, used 3 door JTD's are as rare as hens teeth, specially in Northern Ireland. Took me 4 months to find mine. We've been together for about six months now and we're happier than ever..............

I have got a petrol 1.8 but I can confirm the Stilo 3 dr is a jewel and it is very difficult to find them because nobody wants to get rid fo them now.
They are simply fantastic.
Have fun.

aint gonna happen, till the bravo goes. gotta admit i didn't realise just how difficult they were to find, plenty of manky 5 doors though! may have to resort to 1.6.... :(

Manky..............................

being the key word!

The reason there are so many five doors is because FIAT anticipated the five door being the big family seller after the success of the Brava, they just forgot to realise how ugly it is and that people aren't blind! Their mass import policy has also made the residuals of this car disgraceful. You can pick up the five door brand new at car supermarkets for very little money too! The five doors failure has been detrimental to the sales figures and general reputation of the brilliant three door!

Bring on the three door!

london taxi seems to be a phrase often heard here! in all fairness the brava was never a exactly a stunner either. has anyone had any trouble buying a 3 door jtd new? long waiting times etc?

New JTD

I got mine within a fortnight from Jamjar, it was in stock though.

But, if you want a standard one, and aren't too fussy about colour you should be able to get one quite quickly.

Delivery will only be a problem on a built to order car.

That black one is nice - but I think it will go for circa 9k.

Shame as the ones ive sen are 2002 and a 2004 would have been cool.

I think youre all being a bit harsh on the 5dr - it not that bad. Just not as nice as the three door.

I also read that the set up was slightly different so that the 3 door handles slightly better?

Got to agree that the 3door handles well ... I've driven both the 1.8 and the 1.6 .... wanted a 1.8 and ended up with a 1.6 .... still managed to easily keep up with a Golf GTI the other day down some twisty country roads ... the Stilo feels like it is glued to the road ... and I haven't got ESP! .... then again the last car I drove was a cinquecento S ... so anything will feel good after that!

I love driving my Stilo but I think the springs are a bit soft, it tends to be a bit "bouncy" sometimes. I was going to lower it or put stiffer springs in but I don't want any more rattles than i've got!!!!! TC is the "lowering expert", what do you think TC?

Cheers

D

Lower it!

Mine was spongy, wallowy, it was horrible and when you used to go round bends it had more body roll than Rik Waller but once I changed the springs, voila, nice firm but not to firm ride, improved handling goes round bends really well and most importantly, improved looks.

Going from 15 in wheels to 17 in wheels had more effect on the ride quality than changing the springs did.
