If you measure from inside the rim where the tyre makes contact you shoud find that they are 4" and 4.5". Early ones are the 4" then later when the clx came out ( about 92 ) they went up to 4.5".

I think that's right anyway.
 
They're all Mk 2 4x4 wheels but I didn't realise that they were also produced in two sizes. Unless someone says otherwise, I think the tyre spec for the 4x4 was always 145/80 so I'm not sure why they changed them. Later FWD cars had the optional 155/65 tyres and hence the wider wheels (as Vern says). I have a set of Mk 1 4x4 wheels which are 4" and have put 155s on them without a problem.
 
My bianchi y10 4WD and also my friends y10 Mia have both these wheels in 4.5x13, my friend has for his panda 4x4 two sets of these in 4x13. There were two types of these wheels. See pictures:
