Technical Wheel Nut problem

R/O/S wheel, I think the thread that takes a wheel nut has sheared, the bolt starts to screw in as per normal, then it reaches a point when the wrench keeps turning and turning, without the nut getting tighter, it does look like there is some damage to the thread of the nut. Im not being heavy handed, its all being done with a torque wrench etc.

The other three nuts went in fine and are tightned correctly.

Bugger !!. :bang:

Any thoughts ?

New hub then. I've ripped the threads out of one earlier. It's a mess as it requires a new bearing aswell. Or do they come as one part? Don't know for sure really.

Yup the threads are gone the options you now have are :-
1) new hub as morty said
2)hub off weld and retap the hole
or
3)helicoil insert

not the best of options I'm afraid but 2+ 3 would be the cheaper

if you can see or measure the amount not tightning, and if its not going to put out your wheel offset to much ,,use wheel spacers

get a hub at a scrappy.. problem solved and fairly cheap

The threads are GONE in the HUB spacers wont make a blind bit of difference :hm:

Apart from you might lose the wheel quicker!!

ok ok point taken,, just thought that if the wheel was to be moved out the bolt would get a grip (and me) as he says its the final tight,n it wont take

Grant - Why not just get a new hub . They are not that expensive -- and at least you know you will be safe.
