Hi all I have a 2002 bessacar e745 motorhome based on a fiat ducato chassis i need to replace the drivers rear wheel bearing but having an issue locating one, when you order one from suppliers it comes as a press in bearing but upon stripping it down its a full hub assembly, it has an alko axle fitted but help and support from them is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard, has anyone come across this before? It has a diameter across the face of about 170mm
Any help appreciated

i think this has heavy duty bearings fitted as it is also fitted with 16 inch wheels??

If on 16 inch wheels then usually heavy duty I have found when working on Ducato vans, suspension and CV joints etc.on the front ends.
If it is an ALKO rear end then I have found this company as stockists quite helpful.https://westerntowing.co.uk/product-category/drum-hub-spares/bearing-kits/al-ko-hub-bearings/?filter_brand=al-ko

Another solution if just want to buy a bearing is companies like BSL Bearing Supplies ltd. I think they are in Birmingham, although when I needed bearings they had a depot in Exeter near me.
What they can do is match a bearing from the part number on the old one.
I have not done much with ALKO on MotorHomes, mostly car transporter stuff in the past.
If you look on the Chassis /Vin plate it will give details of the gross vehicle weight etc. so you will know what the bearing rating will need to be.:)

thanks for that i will give them a ring and see if he can help, its a bearing and hub not just a press in bearing

When I had this problem - driver's side rear, funnily enough - the solution was to remove the old bearing and then pop it round to my local bearing suppliers. There was a type number stamped on it and they matched it up.

I had to wait 24 hours before they got it in stock, but that was no problem.

No option to press it out?
I needed a rear hub bearing for a Iveco Daily twin wheel axle, £135 from Iveco dealer, same SKF bearing from BSL was £50 plus Vat.
Though I accept yours is a specialist design in a hub carrier, so maybe a stockist like I suggested even if you have to wait for postage :- https://westerntowing.co.uk/product...g-kits/al-ko-hub-bearings/?filter_brand=al-ko .
You could give them a ring, I am not on commission, last time I used them was about 3 years ago.:)
