So I went to tyre garage the other day and had my wheel alignment measured and corrected using those hunter Hawkeye systems (very clever). The guy was quick to mention that there are no alterations that can be made to the rear wheels on my model but aligned my steering wheel and front wheels the best he could. He then told me some bad news. My rear nearside wheel is badly out. Especially with it's camber. He basically said don't bother buying good tyres for it. The road will eat them alive. (I didn't need any more proof as I saw the state of the tyre that came off it). So I walked away and listened to his advise. However now that I know it's out. I swear to god I can physically see the wheel being out of alignment. If I ever walk to the car from the rear I can see how it is bent inwards. Here's the readinG he printed for me after his alterations

Now I haven't owned this car from new. I have no idea what may have happened to this wheel but it's actually worrying me. My question is. What can I do about it? I really feel I need to sort it.

Needs new rear track control arms and maybe damper if it is bent too. Your car has been in a collision

im not clear where your wheel is in relation to the axle but its usually because someone slid in the snow into a kerb as a basic example
its quite possible you have a fracture in the rear axle setup, sorry no idea what it is on this car but you need to get it checked
usually a breakers yard complete axle is the best way to sort this type of problem and get the best bits from both swapped to make good your problem

The camber is in at the top. If you look at the wheel from the back of the car it's this shape /

It's only noticeable as I've been told about it but it's probably in my head anyway. It's out by 2 degrees according to the hawkeye system. Which isn't actually that bad when you think about it. The whole width of my tread still makes good contact with the floor. the bloke at the garage said it wasn't dangerous, it's also passed it's MOT without an issue. He just said that over a long time tyres will wear quicker on the inside. Tyres should still last years especially on the back as they're only rolling wheels. I will look at getting this sorted though. Or at least checked out by a garage. I'm guessing I'll be forking out a few hundred quid. But it's balancing the cost. If I buy a cheap tyre every couple of years that's not a big issue. If I only own the car for 5 years. But if I planned to own the car for 10 years (which I obviously don't) then I'd rush out to get it sorted as I'll save myself money.
