Re: Thanks

Another thing to check is the water temp sensor. Its ontop of the thermostat housing which is on the right side of the engine. Does the temo guage always read correctly?

It WON'T be the lambda, its the easy get out of jail excuse everyone uses. If its doing it from cold it can't be the lambda.

Re: Re: Thanks

Was that aimed at me or Daz Tom? My temp gauge is totally consistent and as I said before the car runs really well. I've had so many Fiats I really appreciate Daz's frustration.

Good job we love 'em really aint it.

Re: Re: Re: Thanks

The temp gauge always reads smack on halfway (but going on past experiense with other cars i have had), it seems to get there really quickly, about 2-3 mins. On all my other cars it would take about 10 mins.

But because it reads smack on halfway i havent even thought about that side of things.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Thanks

Certainly on the 1.6 there are 2 sensors, one for the guage and one for the ECU. Dunno about the HGT. Might be worth disconnecting it and seeing what happens.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Thanks

That sounds right Daz. Have you noticed that the HGT not only gets there quickly but also stays warm for ages even in the cold. Last winter, when it was about -3degs outside I went about 10 miles down the road and went out for a meal. 2 hours later come back to the car and the gauge still reading about one fifth.

Brilliant!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Thanks

Is it good that it stays that warm for so long???

must be that sheepskin rug stuck on the underside of the bonnet..lol

Which sensor must i unplug?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Thanks

It's good in the winter mate. Leave it for 2 hours and be warm inside within 30 secs of starting her up again? Nice!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Thanks

If you stand infront of the car looking at the engine, the sensor is on the right hand side of the engine, just to the left of that silly black plastic box thingy that is attached to the air intake.

You should see an ally housing bolted to the side of the engine with a few hoses connected to it and a yellow (I think) sensor bolted on the top. Check the connector on it, give it a clean etc...
