What's made you grumpy today?

Very scary stuff when you think a junior Dr is basically "in charge" of so many patients.

I used to be a Bupa customer and to be honest the medical care isn't much better, difference being is there's no delay to treatment you get an en suite room and your doctor doesn't look so rushed and flustered lol.

These days you're not even guaranteed that, often private patients come through a normal NHS hospital, maybe getting there own room but often all they really get is seen a bit quicker.

It's amazing how much quicker when the money is going straight in the pocket of the consultant.

A cousin of mine paid a fortune to go private for a gall stone operation the private hospital took her by private ambulance to the local NHS hospital for the op then ferried her back again afterwards by ambulance half a mile each way. It's not a very safe way to do business, I remember that day clearly as I was working on an orthopaedic ward when I got s call from my dad to tell me my grandfather had suffered a massive stroke, so I sat on the neuro ward waiting for him to die, which he did about an hour so later, all, the time all my aunt did was whinge about how bad this private hospital had been.

You've said nothing about his leg before (despite me mentioning it) you also said the problem existed before the fall, I'm pretty much of the opinion you're just making it up as you go along.

He fell over clearly banged his arm as you said it was bruised and swollen, he was walking about and clearly still is hence why they discharged him in the first instance.

They are currently not treating him for having had a stroke they are doing an op while he's in hospital they would have had to do anyway to prevent further strokes, so sending for the stroke nurses achieved having an op a bit earlier than he would have other wise to aid with a future op which is unrelated.....

That's the reality of the situation, so you're being outraged by something that happened to someone else with no clinical knowledge with changing facts and second hand information........

Have you considered a career with the daily mail ?

i didn't notice any thing wrong with his leg that's why i didn't mention it nor did physio, dont forget he had 1 fall on the thursday paramedics sent him in by ambulance, then 2nd fall on the saturday he was also sent in by ambulance, the stoke team reckon the he had stroke was way before the first fall.

if i hadn't questioned them about the arm the stroke nurses would have never been sent for, his blocked arteries would have not been found so would not have been cleared, he would have then had a 1 in 5 chance of having a stroke during the aaa op.

they have been treating him for the stroke on the stroke unit they gave him many toys to try and get his arm moving again, they said the quicker they get a patient the better chance they have of full recovery!

how is it 2nd hand information when i have been in direct contact with all the staff all the way through?

Can't be bother to argue, you're 100% right about everything

Basically because I could write a detailed essay on everything you've said and why you're talking out of you're arse but I really have better things to do with my life, I assume you'll be getting you're private health care sorted out as we speak

i cant afford private cover as i still have to pay to use nhs wether i want to use it or not.

i wish i wasn't 100% right in this case but unfortunately i am, even though this hospital has been in the news a lot recently due to its failings its still lacking.

its also written in his notes that he had an enemma on the 14th but no one gave him one. notes also say dressing on late shift and night shift as being independant, they just wrote this with out asking if he had any, i helped him get his PJ's on every night it took the 2 of us between 40 and 60 minutes every night.

Overworked busy professionals make mistakes. The only way around it is extra help and support so that person isn't so overworked. Passing judgement doesn't help even more so when you don't know all the circumstances involved with that "incident".

I know all the circumstances that they will tell us, they wont answer any questions, when he is home safe we will take it further.

its only a year ago that police were called in because staff said they were being "pressured or bullied" to falsify data relating to patients in this hospital.

That will be the abundance of managers protecting their jobs then (y)

I've seen this myself, albeit on a small scale.
When I was in hospital last year I didn't get some meds as I should have done at a certain time. But when I checked the records at the end of the bed, the following day, the time recorded was not the time administered.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one and that wasn't the only night.

That was all back office stuff relating to the 18week waiting lists for cancer patients awaiting ops, the managers in charge of such things apparently manipulated the numbers to avoid being fined for missing targets

Nothing to do with clinical staff.

(I should add I don't work at this hospital)

Because of the incompetence of four people at work I have about 47 hours of work to do on top of my usual work. And these muppets are looking for promotions  . If it was down to me the only thing they would get would be their P45's. :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I've come to learn that s*** only flows downstream in a company :bang: :(

Dvla committing legalised theft..

Sold the micra on the 20th October, sent off the V5 that day 1st class. Recieved an acknowledgement of it's receipt today dated the 3rd November, so not only did we lose 10 days of last month they'll charge us for this month. Oh and probably charge the new owner for the 2 months of tax we've been charged for for.

Fight it with them. They're supposed to go by the postmark on the letter (n)

I hate the DVLA with a passion - mental note to self, SORN online as soon as new owner drives off so you get a refund for all remaining months from that point.
