What's made you grumpy today?

What's made you grumpy today?

Wondering why there aren't meets every week in different areas of the country, and then finding out why. As soon as someone suggests an idea for a meet, there's always people more ready to criticise than offer assistance. Guaranteed they'll be the exact same people complaining because there's nothing happening in their area.

Likewise, if someone's taken the time and effort to organise a meet, it's only polite to let them know if you are actually going or not. It's so f**king rude to put your name down and then not turn up.

It's been said before, and no doubt it'll be said again........

Meets every week would get boring and even less people would turn up. The only reason people critisised beanys idea is because it was unrealistic what he was proposing. He wanted a massive meet not a small local on with 10-12 cars turning up. He wanted to do stuff but hadnt thought through all the stuff he needed to be able to do that stuff, thats why he got criticised no other reason.

it may be unrealistic but you have to admit it would be nice to tr and get everyone at one meet.

the BC meet was miles bigger than everyone expected with 20+ cars and about 35ish people. its just the planning thats the hard bit.

It's gonna have to be something special for me to even consider going much further than Carlisle, given how long it would take me to get even that far south (minimum 4.5 hours). Pretty sure the only things I'll be attending in Englandcestershire will be Standford Hall, FF Weekender (depending when it is), possibly MITCAR and the ClubCento AGM.

Might be nice but as was pointed out in the thread you get too many people there to talk to. If you want a big meet do it at one of the shows that is on at throughout the year. That way there will already be plenty of stuff to do and you get loads of cars on the stand which makes the club/forum look good.

That may be so, but there are better ways to put your point across than blatantly insulting the guy who took the trouble to make the suggestion. That's the quickest way to put people off wanting to be a part of the forum as a whole, proved quite simply by Beany's justified response to what was said.

I would like to organise something myself, but am getting less and less keen on the idea. It's obviously far easier to go to a meet that someone else planned, but surely it's more satisfying to get the recognition for having made more of an effort for the benefit of others?

welcome to the world of events
the people and more often the mods who put wor into events often go unrecognised
some of the mods(mainly darrrnnn souf) put loads of work into events

having arranged a meet or two and looking to arrange a further one

its not that hard, just check what meets are already planned (i.e. mitcar, stanford hall etc as they're the biggies), then put up a thread with some dates in mind and take it from there.

it wont be good for everyone and some people will moan, then others not turn up that said they would ... just have broad shoulders and enjoy meeting people :slayer:

edit... it gets worse if money is involved lol

My parents and I have been organising equestrian-based events for years. You get so f**ked off with people's attitudes and taking all the flak, but you just carry on and keep doing it. It would just be nice if everyone's efforts were recognised, and those that didn't approve just kept their gob shut.

I got a new ribe bit set today :) and the M12 bit is not there. In its place is a T55 torx bit instead

better to just promote one of the already planned meets like stanford if its large numbers you want.
the meet just gone wasnt planned to be large dont forget, it just ended up large

do you only come on FF to moan? i got a wife to moan at me don't need to read moaning on here too.

If the reason people want to arrange a meet is to try and look good they will be very disappointed. event arranging is a thankless task, one or two people will thank you for doing it but most will not have any idea how much work has gone into making it good, so will not even think to thank anyone.

also a meet would be nothing if no one turned up to support it so the people who do turn up need thanking too before anyone starts moaning at the ones that didn't

Im mad
Found out my car's colour code is 623/A. Even though my sticker said 387/A

1 year of me chasing the wrong paint code and 45 quid of paint for the bin. balls! (other naughty words go here)

At least I have half a chance of finding a replacement front wing now.
:bang: :bang:
