something needs done about these insurance ripping people off, if courts/police are sending people on a course that is supposed to make them safer how can it be legal to then say they are a greater risk?

because you have been caught speeding just because you didn't get points doesn't mean you haven't been naughty

As for these courses a few people i know who have been on them have said its a waste of time just a case of taking up 4-5 hours and charging you £100 or so for your nice warm seat in some fancy hotel somewhere

but people who just get the points just get the points, they learn nothing. awareness cause is supposed to make you safer that the person who just got points, so must me some way we/someone can prove they are over charging or that a course hasn't provided what its charged you for

If ins. company pulled their finger out and didn't deliver my parents hire car on the friday then collect their car for repair on the tuesday they'd save some money.

(Yes the car was driveable)

Risk calculation is rather complex Dave. If stats show they're more likely to pose more of an expense to the insurer, even if no point but went on the course, then they can charge accordingly, and quite rightly so.

Can always use an insurer which does ask ;)

If stats show they're more likely to pose more of an expense to the insurer then the courses should be abolished, as people running them are getting money for nothing.

No they're not, might save a life as person will crash doing only 5 mph over the limit rather than the 25 MPH they got caught at etc. Who knows?

Its a waste of time if you go with the wrong attitude. If your open minded and take what they say on board then its very informative. The people that don't take what the course has to say on board will be the ones that end up with points.
