Personal preferance... Not like you got a toaster tattoo for heritage reasons is it? What do your tattoos mean to you? Probably similar to what people's tribal ones mean to them. :shakehead:
my tatts remind me of different things that have happened in my life
death, coming of age and other things

Exactly - then you should be the type of person who understands that people get ANY kind of tattoo for ANY multipul amount of reasons. Just because it is tribal in nature doesn't demene its importance in any way.

Has got to be comic book all the way! Big spawn with chains. Thats what im after. Ill be designing it my self like, would go for a off the wall choice! has to be unique!

Yeah but why do so many people have the same sort of tattoo? Is there some tribe running round the country? :D I would have a red dragon, cos it's part of my heritage.

i dont get any kind of tattoo though, my tatts are wot i have thought of in my own design . i have never looked at flash cards and chosen a tattoo from them .
My imagination and state of mind is all i need.

Sorry to point this out tstaboy because i'm in complete agreement with you on the type of tattoos people should get. But i have seen your Joker tattoo on a lot of websites and in my local tattoo shop. I'm also pretty sure I have seen the others that you have or something very similar.
I'm not trying to say that you didn't design your own tattoo, i'm just pointing out that what you have got has either been emulated by other tattoo designers or the original tattoo that you got the ideas from are more common than you originally were led to believe.

I'm not saying that many people may have designs very similar to my "tribal" style one (by which I assume we are using it in the broad sense - plain black, line-y type tattoos?) BUT it is still perfectly possible for tribal designs to be unique, and very much personalised, like mine is, which I definatley designed myself I might add!

(y) That explains why it's appeared in the shops now then. It's the same with everything, you get something original and as soon as someone else sees it, that originality has gone because it will be sought after. :bang:

I've always wanted a tattoo, but have never found anything that I thought was good enough for me to know I would like it for the rest of my life, I guess that's why the personal reason for the design helps. I couldn't design one myself, because I'm crap. The best I have seen artistically have been portraits, but there is no way I would want a picture of someone else on my body. Some of the Celtic bands/knots look cool, but everyone has them. If I was a girl I might get an Ankh on my lower back, despite the fact that they are very common, cos I think they look sexy on the right lower back.

The problem with colours is that they fade. Obviously black does as well, but it's less noticable when it's only one colour. You can, of course, get them touched up to restore the colour, but would you want to.

As I can't make a tattoo decision for myself, I'm in no position to make one for anyone else, but I do think you should be 100% happy with the decision before it is done, after all it's not very easy to divorce a tattoo.

like this anyone
