Quite south.
Since the weather has been very consistently warm (well down here anyway) for weeks now I can't help but notice my temperature gauge creep up regularly. Now we all know Italians and their lack of consistency so I was wondering what other Pandas sit at in these temperatures.

The ambient temperature here has been around the 26 - 28 Celsius mark,
in normal driving along the temperature gauge sits at 85, if I'm hammering along at high revs more like 95.
Sitting in solid traffic on the A2 the other day, sun shining its brightest, temp crept up to a rather toasty 97 ish before than fan kicks in, it'll cool itself back to about 92 before switching the fan off.
I assume everybody else's is different because of the way Italians like to do things...

One of the first questions I asked VmanC, when I took Pippin down to see him, was if it was okay that the gauge stayed between 70 and 80, on the journey down there (averaging 60-65 mph on dual carriageways, when it was a bit cooler...). Seems this is pretty typical. :)

Yesterday, noticed (on our local country roads, doing 50) that the gauge was around the 80 mark, most of the time, creeping up to just over 90, when stuck in traffic in the centre of town. The fan comes on around 90: so the gauge didn't creep up, at all; and settled back to just over 80, once we got moving again. (y)

Does this help? I'm currently drugged up to my eyeballs (legally): and may therefore be rambling more than 'normal'.... :spin:

This is what I expect from mine but the fan definitely doesn't cut in until about 97 and switches back off at 92 ish, I'd expect it to switch on at 90 but it doesn't

If it doesn't go bang it's normal....it's what the fan is for..
Its never gone bang :) Fan does cut in a bit late though? Not exactly worried about it just wondered what other Panda's are like

Talon's normal running temp is 90.. creeps up to about 100 then the fan comes on if in traffic. just been on a few days camping and had the radio on for a good solid 8 hours each day ran from off the rear battery.
sometimes would start him up and leave him running with the choke out to the first click to rase the idle to 1200rpm (not "on" choke).
happy sat at that with the fan cutting in and out. while charging the battery and fridge battery.

Yes I agree they are all different. The first time I drive a different one in traffic is always exciting (I don't get out much!) - will the fan kick in before it hits the red?! All of mine do, the temp goes down a bit, fan stops, temp shoots up, fan kicks in, etc. Don't worry is usually the answer (y)

75 is as much as it gets up to with any kind of airflow through the radiator. Stationery traffic has it up to 90 with the fan kicking in at 92

Yes: but you're in Scotland... (which I miss terribly: having not been north of the border for over ten years, now...) -- and aren't all Pandas "cool", anyway: driving or stationary...? ;)

You make a valid point, although its been warmer in Scotland recently than I remember in my entire life! And of course all pandas are cool ;)

In a (Not entirely unrelated) note, the heat has been causing me to do more driving with windows, fresh air vents, fans and sunroofs (not always all at the same time) under use, and this has unfortunetly caused my fuel economy to go down :(

I cant wait till its colder again.

And I just realised Im a Scottish stereotype

I was just going to say (again) just how helpful this section of the forum is: with fifteen replies all answering the question... -- and then realized that we've collectively managed to keep a thread on topic.... Am I hallucinating...? :spin:

It is really quite amazing (y)
I've actually learnt something, my temp gauge is just a bit askew, just like all my other gauges then really :D
