Iv got a problem where the temp shoots up to 3/4 when in prolonged stationary traffic and providing i have the heaters on full blast it never reaches red. What temp should the fan kick in at?

I want to test the fan also, would i do this by routing a +ve and -ve feed from the batt via some temp wires to the motor?

Finally if the fan works when tested i guess the prob would lie with the fan temp switch?

Cheers

yes, test the motor as you said, also check the fuse for the fan. You can test the switch by removing it and putting the threads in a pan of water then heating it until the switch closes. You will need a meter for this or a battery and bulb

cheers mountain,

so di you use plain old speaker wire to test the motor?

In the end im assuming it was the rad fan switch you replaced (after a failed soldering attempt)?

Actually to test i used an old kettle cord with croc clips. Yup replaced switch as was too far gone to stick with solder. If you do test the way i did take the car a nice drive to cool her down.
