What size cable

Hi,
I've got a new HU but need to splice an ignition live but don't know what size cable to use, I have this cable:

but it's pretty thick and I don't know if I need something thinner?

Also what do you recommend for splicing & joining cables, scotch lock, or for joining solder or bullet connectors or something else?

Think it has something to do with how many amps the unit draws. I am sure your stereo manual will tell you if not printed on the back. I would use the existing power line as a guide and buy that.

The radio has a 15amp fuse in the back but isn't the wire measured in gauge or mm? There must be an industry standard?

Now this says 1mm should be enough but most units I have seen have a slightly fatter live. Measure the live on your unit and just get that.
