Trying to get some useful info for my dad’s black Panda CLX ie 1992 K reg with a really true honest 33,500 miles on the clock and garaged.
He is 85 and has decided to hang up his keys for good as he drives around 1,500 miles a year to the supermarket and local shops.

I know it is 1992 model but it is in excellent condition for the year and totally reliable with all the bills and workshop manual to throw in.
What sort of price can you get for a model that has been well looked after and serviced.
This Panda has been looked after by an old man who was an engineer but has no bible on the passenger seat.

hi,if you check "cars and classics" you might get some idea.
if the car is completely immaculate with no rust, and service history i guess you might get around 2000 euro for it,but could be worth more or less!
hard to value a car without seeing it,all i do know is that the older and rarer a car becomes, the more it is worth.

Thanks Tony55S

Will have a look around as the tax runs out on the end of May and his insurance finishes by July. Did not think of classics in spite of owning a BWM motorbike which is 25 years old.
Must think of the Panda as a classic and take some photos of the bodywork as the door sills used to go at the bottom. Car is 100 miles away, good excuse to ride the bike there.

I have a 1976 (35 years old) Suzuki GT750 "kettle" a model that wasn't especially liked back then, but has since gained cult classic status. A concours condition restored bike with all original equipment is worth £4000 to £5000. One recently sold for £9000 less than 100 miles and dry stored - basically never used which is sad. Normal condition kit like mine is worth A LOT less.

I took mine to a local steam show. I got free entry and was asked to park by the Triumph Club who were showing old and new bikes. My non standard Suzuki with its expansion chamber exhausts stole the limelight. A bit embarrassing TBH.

My point is the most unusual bikes and cars can become classics. I dont believe the old Panda is up there just yet, but 15 to 20 years ago who would have expected the Kettle to become anything special. That said the Mirafiori and maybe the early Uno could be getting that way.

Thanks chaps for some information on the Panda.
Have just grabbed the keys from my Dad and it has a genuine 33,600 miles on the clock as he used to drive it to the local shops and back and nowhere else.
Have cleaned out the engine bay and had the front wheels off to check the pads and callipers which are ok with plenty of meat on them.

Having owned 4 Unos over the years I was shocked at the lack of breaking this Panda has in spite of jumping on the brake pedal. The callipers have copper paste on them so that the sliders give the minimum of friction and the pistons are completely free with Ferodo pads fitted.
I know that there is no servo on these models but are they that really bad at breaking?
What did the Italians do when they had a full set of passengers and going down the mountains?

What has surprised me are the doors and the bodywork does not show any signs of rust or bubbles coming through. Again all my old Unos rotted the doors at the bottom where the weld of the inner panel is wrapped around at the bottom.
So in all the condition of this 1992 K regd Panda CLX ie. is surprising.
I have noticed my dad has put in a small switch on the panel inside to cut of the petrol pump relay if the engine gets flooded in the winter. Apparently he can then turn over the engine to clear it without any more petrol flooding the spark plugs or having to get under the bonnet in the winter to take out the relay.

Have been told these Pandas with petrol injection use more fuel than the earlier carb models. My own Uno’s always retuned 47-48 mpg on a reasonable run but he says only 38mpg on a local run.
Tomorrow will take some photos of the Panda and then decide where to put it up for sale.

Keep the ideas rolling in?
