Bravo - 1.8

I get

driving recklessly ~ 160miles from half a tank from full.

sensible motorway driving ~ 210 miles half a tank.

Re: Bravo - 1.8

Which half? My first half lasts around 50 miles longer than my second half. I can do 200 miles on the first half and 360 on the full tank in my 155 HGT

Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

i got about 340 ish miles from a tank with half motorway and half town
driving hard, and it worked out to a cock over 39 mpg

Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

First half with tank absolutely full.

I noticed running on the new BP super unleaded the engine runs sweetly.

No flat spots, and just far more responsive.

Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

I get about 450 to a full tank in my 1.2.
With half motorway driving half town driving.

I do drive sensibly though (most of the time), and my only mod is a de-cat (on standard exhaust).

= 40.9mpg

That's pretty much right for what the handbook suggests :)

Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

Scotty.

If your getting 340 miles to a full tank...

That means..

With a 60-liter tank. = 13.19815 Gallons approx.

340/13.19815 = 25.761186226857552005394695468683mpg

So your getting around 25.8mpg.

Where did 39mpg come from?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

Sorry no, the 1.2's and the 1.6's have 50 litre tanks.

That means your getting 30.91mpg

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

shite. im only getting 27 mpg on my 1.6. supposed to be 37 i think! and thats mostly doing 20 mile journeys. wud resetting my ecu help?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

well how i worked my mpg out was like this...............
(dunno whether it is right or wrong though.....i am blonde)

filled tank up at garage till the click, and reset my milometer. Drove around etc blah stop start horn etc......... when to same garage again, filled up tank again till the click and noted how many litres it was.38.65l. Had done 332.9 miles, so i used this kinda equation (maths and as u can see as well spelling were not my best subjects, but then i am from norfolk!)

litres to gallons = 38.65 x 0.22 = 8.503

(miles) 332.9 / 8.503= 39.1509 mpg

that is how i done it.probably done it wrong but it kinda made sense to me :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

by the way the 0.22 i used was to convert litres to gallons.i got it of a website but i dont know if it is right
:)

more to norfolk than tractors......we got cows to:)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

50 litres is a full tank on the 1.6, so you was far from empty.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

yes i was i spose:)

forgot to say that. :)

the spec from fiat is 36.9 mpg, so i think that my 39 is pretty good and strange at the same time cos i really whoop my car.! i was just wondering if i had worked it out right cos it dont seem right to get more mpg than they say u can :)

did i work it out right ian? u seem pretty clued up with maths unlike me !

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

155 HGT - about 80 miles to £10
1.6 16v - about 110 miles to £10

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

Well scotty... hmm

You need to really do a proper test for your MPG Figure.

Look at the "Advice on Economy" Post. And go from there.

I did a 150 mile journey today, and I averaged 43mpg.

That's in a de-cat'd 1.2.

How your getting more than me with a bigger engine and a catalyic converter, well, something just doesn't add up there! :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

I use this (slightly easier)

distance / fuel used (litres) * 4.55

My 1.8 has done 230 miles using 30 litres, so 230/30 * 4.55 = 34.8mpg

Best I've got is 38mpg, but usually it's around 28.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

I know i'm going to get **** for being a sad case but I keep a record of milage etc. everytime i fill up my HGT and have just done the inputting into my sad spread sheet, and i also know i'm going to get **** for this too but I always run on Optimax (i like the different colour plus points card you get!)

my average mpg is 30.512MPG over the 9865 miles i've had the car.

My fuel ecnomy seems to have got worse since i had a performance air filter fitted, should this be the case or am i just driving harder? (it's only around 0.5MPG)

(i've spent £1257.88 since April!)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

sorry ian but u are still getting more mpg than me:)

i said i was getting 39.5 mpg and you said you got 43mpg average. i aint being picky ian, honest m8,but does sound about right as yours maybe a 1.2,but surely de cat etc may reduce your mpg slightly? (i aint to sure on that though,u know i am crap with engines:)

or have i misread something again?
i done that once already tonite :(

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo - 1.8

155 HGT 50k miles

When i had a lack of power not long after i got the car = 25mpg
After resetting ECU = 29.5mpg
After not using the car for 5 days (with battery disconnected) = 34mpg

Not bad for a HGT, usually i get about 28mpg for my daily 10 miles to work, then 10 miles home...

Since last Sunday (when i started using my car again after the 5 days), so far i have got about 34mpg, my best yet, and i havent been taking my time either...:)

This week i hit the 450 mile mark for the first time ever, when i filled her up it took just over 55 litres.

Sorry scotty, yeah.. I meant to say that your getting above average for a 1.6 and you boot it.
I don't and I'm getting just below average.

That's what I really meant :)
