what money buys

Holy crap on a stick, that's awesome.

I can remember my dad buying our old PC years ago and paying over a grand for a machine with a Cyrix PR333/250Mz CPU, 64Mb PC66 SDRAM, 4.3Gb HD and 4Mb onboard graphics, with cheap printer and scanner and a 15" CRT... at the time that was a bargain! Still got it all as well, other than the printer which broke after 4 years of abuse

I can remember my friend (rich git!) getting a BBC Micro Model 'B' in 1983. It came with a whopping 32 kilobytes of memory and, well, nothing else really! It cost £399, you had to use the family TV as the display and also buy a seperate tape deck to load and save programs with. It seemed like state of the art too, though compared with what you get today...

£399 in todays money would equal at least a grand!
