Looks like a connector for a thermostat at the bottom of the engine.

The cable was not secured and was resting against, what looks like the, manifold and looks like it’s got cooked.
There is also some red grease liquid on two of the contacts to whatever this coupler is.

Firstly, what is it, and how do I detach it to cleaned it up. It’s stuck.
Secondly, what would be the red liquid greasy stuff on it?
Thirdly, would this, or most likely be the reason the start stop is currently not functioning?
Fourthly, is there supposed to be an undertray on a 2013 Colour Therapy?

Marked with an arrow is a rubber seal, so the grease on top of it should not get through to the terminal itself.

If you disconnect the two ends of the connector and you see the grease inside, just clean it with a contact cleaner or IPA spray and let it evaporate before you reconnect.
Is there a trick to separating it as it seems to be welded shut. For fear of breaking a clip I have not forced it yet.

I assume you should push the yellow part in the direction of the wires (marked with the red arrows - I'd start with the top one, as the yellow part should be a single part mould and then pull it away top right on the photo. It might be some kind of lock you have to remove before you detach the two parts of the connector.

Tried that. Will give it another go.

If there is no engine warning light....leave it alone or you will cause problems that need to be fixed.
The connector could be distorted by heat rendering opening impossible .
If you break it you will need a complete connector then correctly repair the wires to each side of new connector.

There is a warning triangle as well as the start stoplight. When my daughter and I went out in the car for the first time yesterday the start stop appeared to be working correctly because she kept stalling the car and she didn’t need to turn the ignition on to get going again. Nevertheless, I’m driving home and my first job of the day on the car will be to see if that connector has got a short. The second job will be to see whether or not the brake sensor or the clutch sensor are at fault. Then I was going to do a power down of the car for an hour to reset the ECU.
As the battery has been replaced, I can’t see that that is causing the issue other than how they may have reconnected it.

If that connector had a fault the engine management / mil would be on not the yellow triangle.

Ask on the forum what may cause the yellow triangle to light.

That's not quite what I meant.

The engine ecu has to record a number of conditions for stop start to function
For instance rear heated window off,
Battery state of charge sufficient plus several others
My Punto has always restarted like this, 😊
But not Run Stop - Start cycles for 6 years, 40,000 miles 😉

I need a new Delphi connector, my one has been baked and is very brittle. Only a little gloop inside which I have now washed out with isopropyl alcohol.
