I'd agree, looks 126 based, and are those X1/9 wheels? And aircon? Was the 126 engine powerful enough for aircon and moving the car?

Shape looks very like some of William Towns' creations, so quite likely to be a prototype, or perhaps a special promotional vehicle for UOP.

Unique, I think.

500 estate car. It used the flat engine to fit under the liftable rear floor panel.

I had an idea that there was a 600 Giardiniera too, but perhaps only the original Multipla. And of course, the 600 was a 4cyl engine. Silly me.

Wheels are 500R or 126, so it probably dates 1972 or later.

The Shadow Box. I have now found that it was built by the Shadow F1 team around 1974 for a contract to Universal Oil Products and was originally to be an electric powered suburban run about but in order to provide the contract with a running car , a fiat Giardiniera (the missing Shadow team's Europe car ? ) was stripped down to use for parts.
It fulfilled the contract and finished a @60mile road test around Chicago where it was stated as being really slow in acceleration. very noisy inside ,with scary handling on off camber downhill turns (the shocks were positioned to let the rear axles drop 4" from the spring , I reposition the shocks and restored its handling ) and "the fewer people drive it the better." it was put away in a warehouse in Salinas Calif with a stash of Shadow race cars and other projects. and was found squashed under some race cars. I will post a full video on YouTube soon
