Its from a second hand car in eBay.

What does it mean? anything to worry about? Is it just that the passenger's airbag has been disabled?

Thanks in advance.

would that light go on if you were to disable the passenger's airbag? so that you could fit a baby seat.

No, there is a seperate light for the passenger airbag too.

ah ok, and how does the passenger airbag light look like? I mean, how do you know the light which is showin in the dashboard is not for the passenger airbag?

In my 2001 Punto Sporting, the passenger airbag light is an amber light directly to the let of the main airbag light (I think). I'm sure it shows a child seat with a line through it.

you'll sometimes find its just dust on the sensor may be woth going to a local (small) garage and hAVE THEM TRY TO SERVICE THE AIRBAG .. MUCH CHEAPER THAn fiat even of you pay 20 for them to say that they cant do it .. take it to fiat and "hm im realy sorry sir but your going to need the ecu reset and a service on the sensors dont worrie though wont cost you more that £300 - £600"

that's a very bad view to take on fiat technitions i happen to be one be carefull what you say on the forum mate your lucky i never take anything particularly seriously

i was simply em parting a bit of common knowledge about common faults on the vehicle and you turned it around and tarted us mechanics with a very large brush of tar

air bag ecus don't often top 300 and are the least common fault of all

imo it's your LOCAL (SMALL) GARAGE that's more likely to knock the light off and charge you for a new ecu have been known to remove the air bag light from the dash aswell it's also your local that is more likely to go right ahead and solder chafed wires witch is just not done on air bags and abs as there safety item you could end up being charged for manslaughter

for example if the car is sufering from the problem i described above You will get it fixed much cheaper at the dealer

fiat released a wiring repair kit for fiat tecks only to use at the dealer to reinforce the earth for the switch it's very cheap and takes no time to fit

were as any other garage who would encounter the same problem could replace every part of the system ecu wiring and switch at great expense ans still have the fault

if you ask me that's called service

ps. dust has never been know to affect an air bag system

thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it! - ok, I have asked the seller and he said that the light just goes on at ignition (when the photo was taken) but turns off as soon as you start driving the car (so within a few secs) - does that sound normal? or could it still be a fault?

proves that the system is working perfectly in order check it goes out when u have a look at the car, littlepips right fiat techs are good and did fix my airbag light problem with the wiring harness for about a tenner plus reseting the light i think it cost about 40 odd quid total

sounds like rubbish as the battery warning light and a few other lights also stay on at the same time airbag light when ignition is first switched on for a few seconds... and they arent in the pic.

and the fuel gauge would have moved too!!!!

there is no situation were the airbag light is the only one on on the dash other than a fault it cant happen if ignition was on to mar battery warning and oil lights be on when engine running it should be off

if someone had quickly started it other warnings would still be on along with it

did you say it only goes off when driven hence first movement

could be linked to power or earth problem to ecu or a speed signal

but if it logged a speed signal fault it would stay on surely till it was canceled not sure on that one it will stay on for most faults but speed signal may be one it can self cancell for

there was also another wiring harness for changing the way the speedo sender was powered on startup of cars without abs fiat released to fix a similar thing could also be that this would also mean the speedo would not work
