General what does it mean

I have a 2004 idea 1.4 and yesterday the little yellow triangle with the ! in the middle lit up. The car runs fine and all fluids seem to be at the correct levels. It's not due a service for about 4000 miles but i don't want to wreck the engine by waiting that long to get it seen to. If i have to take it in i will but i would rather fix it myself than pay fiat big labour charges for a 2 quid component that just plugs in.

I don't have my Idea any longer (totalled it in January), but look in the owner's manual for an explanation of the symbol. Or ask at any Fiat garage. Normally, if it is not a red light, you can still drive.
