Hi. I've just turned 17 and I've inherited mymums fiat cinquecento. I'm learning to drive and its a great litte car to learn in. However, its still got its old b*ll*x radio and speaker system, and as I know nought about cars I wondered if ne1 could give me any recomendations for car audio equipment and where to get it from etc. I'm talking the basics. A CD/Radio thing for bout 100 squid and sum phat speakers. please help a car newbie out! [)]

This is another public service annoucement brought to you by PeArCeY.

hey there when you find out anything about this I would love to know. iam going to be buying my cinquecento later today or tomorrow and am thinking of improviningon the sound system already fitted

Well, for some 'Phat' sounds why not put 4 (or more) 6x9's on the parcel shelf and a good ol' Boss '100w' sub box in the boot running from a couple of Sony Xplod amps, that would sound the dogs danglies and get all the girlies at the bus stop crowding round your mobile disco...

Nah, not really you big sponge! :D

Keep it simple, some 10cm Components in the dash running from an amp. A sub in the boot running from an amp. Have a look at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk www.m-c-sdirect.com www.carsudiosecurity.com They should be able to sort you out. :)

really dont like 6x9's do ya sando? ;)

lol @ sando, you and 6*9's

The fact is for a cheap and good value "install", replacing the front speakers, adding 6*9s to the shelf and a new HU gives sufficient quality, takes up little room, costs little and is sufficient for most. I mean the normal equipment in a cinq (which i guess is similar to my Uno) is very poor but adding some simple 6*9's covers for that a little and makes the sound usable. Of course it's not going to the best you can get, but you won't be it for value will you?

It just depends on what the end outcome wants to be?

I am a schizophrenic currently so please bear with me whilst I try to get rid of the 40+ personality.

I spent £200 on my sound system. Pioneer HU, Pioneer 10cm in front and Pioneer 6x9's in the shelf...no complaints at all from me!

I've just invested in a Sony CDX-R3300 and it has a sound-quality i've never heard before on my setup (JbL 6x9's rear, Kenwood 4"'s front + Sony tweeters), i'll be keeping this unit for a while (longer than my induction kits:p).

If you hurry, you can get the same unit for £113 from www.mcs-direct.co.uk! Halfords sell the same unit for £169![:0]

It plays MP3 cd's too so there's more selection in music, just bung a few albums on a data disc, and then play them in the car:D

Go for the best HU you can afford, this will make the most difference. Then uprate your fronts, again, get the best you can afford. The think about getting a sub and amp. Then get your fronts amped. If your wanting 6x9's for rear-fill then this is a big no-no, the car is tiny, rear fill is just unnessecery, it ruins the front imaging. If your just wanting 6x9's for a bit of bass then why not low pass them? This way, you get some bass and you get to keep the front imaging.
