Weird Clutch Pedal Issue

I bought my missus a 2000 Fiat Bravo the other day.
One of the problems with it is that the Clutch is weird. You press it down and as you get so far down the pedal goes rock hard so you cant push it anymore, unless you really force it down. It drives spot on and at the point where the clutch goes hard it changes into gear no problem and its biting so it its not like the clutch is slipping or anything. Ive had a bit of an inspection but cant seem to see anything unusual (im not a mechanic though) - Ive also had a look at my BravA andtried to see if it looks different - again, nothing I can see.

Anyone know what it would be why this pedal just goes rock hard when you get so far down.

It also needs a new back and middle section on the exhaust.

Also one more thing, When gliding along at about 20 mph it has whistle noise from the wheel. It drives fine. Theres a bit of a wobble when on the motorway which will be the wheel balancing but not sure what this whistle noise is. Its not mega loud or anything but you can just baout hear it when driving. After you get over 20 mph it goes.

Thanks :)

Check the break fluid for the clutch if low top it up and if it gets low again then the slave might be on fault.

That noise its normal because of the cold once the car is warm does the noise go away??

The Wheels need balancing or you can try and swap them around.

Thanks for the reply.

The noise from the wheel is there even when the car is warmed up. Ill try swapping the two front wheels around.

One thing I did notice was if im driving in a straight line I dont get the noise but as soon as it slightly move the steering wheel to the left i get that noise on the front left. I dont know if that is anything significant though.

Failing that a wheel balance isnt expensive so I can give that a try.

Ill check the brake fluid although im sure it was fine and topped up when I bought the car as I checked it.

I suggest you change the wheels on the same side rather than the same axle.

This weird clutch feeling...got the same on my 1.6 Pretty sure it's the pressure plate!

What happens is that the release bearing wears a grove in the fingers of the pressure plate, and gives you that weird inconsistant heavy notchy feeling. A new clutch kit should sort it out.

Someone else said that to me tonight about it might be the pressure plate!
