Hi All,

Nice website!

Interested in buying a Fiat Ducato 2.5 1990 motorhome, just need to find out how much it weighs for tax purposes. Got a photo of the badge near the engine which I will try to attach.

It says 3100kg, then I presume a rating for each axle??

What does it mean?

I need to know the unladen weight.

Cheers
G

Hi,
I purchased a Fiat Ducato Burstner A560 1993 two years ago in Germany, & brougt it back to Ireland. I am delighted with it.
It sure it also has a Gross weight of 3100t.
However I was of course hoping it would weigh in over the 'magical' 3t & save €€€€€'s on VRT.
I got it weighed @ a council dump & it came up @ 2.7t, so i thought i had a chance to get up to the 3t if 'legally' fully laden with fuel and loads of gear ect...
I had little time to get 'advice' on the 'weigh in'.
Anyway to put a long story short - on the day - ( in Cork! ) they go over documentation ect & then simply go with you & to the nearest weigh bridge ( in my case the inspector gave the camper a good check out, emptied the water tanks ) & then got weighed - 2.8t - s**t.
So I just had to pay €€€€. I had the choice to appeal & got a few €€€'s back.
The camper I have suits us fine & we would probably find most of the 3t plus models a bit big to manage.
Regards,
N

cheers for the info!

if you dont mind me asking, what was the damage? I'm looking at on for around 7k sterling, so they take 13.5% of the Open Market Selling Price, which I dont know how they calculate, in your experience, did they give the camper a high value or a low value?

Cheers
Gareth

Hi again,
the VRT cos me about €2,300 - as far as I can remember.
They valued it high - which I appealed & got a about 4-500 back.

N.
