Pulled it all apart. Started to do as Neverth suggested regarding removing the release handle.

The lightweight 'frame' is only lightly bonded to the main glossy panel..;)

I was trying to flex the frame enough to release the handle..when a previous plastic repair failed..:bang: releasing the handle and it's one carrier/pivot tube.

Got lots of release oil into the 2 x pivot tubes.wriggle through the range of motion - Then wiped clean.. repeat until free moving.

Pack with grease. then Bond parts all back in place. Wait an hour for setting. Then rebuild.

As the "Salopian" suggested in one of the 3 x tailgate threads;

I left the tailgate trim panel off for a couple of days in case the release mechanism failed..

But after a couple of days I put the cover back on the tailgate, complete with the reflective panel screw covers.:)

All working well. The handle is the easiest moving I've known (y)
